I'm trying to find out the basics to flower sculping for cakes with rice paper, color, gluing, mostly curling

i have the paper, and royal icing but can't figure out how to shape the petals after I've cut them. I did some basic coloring with gel watered down and glitter and luster dust along with the edible color pens but I have no clue on how to glue the pieces - they come out gloppy - and how do you curl the leaves and petals?
